Em 1989, Billy Joel atingiu o 1º posto na parada norte-americana com o single We Didn’t Start The Fire, em cuja letra citava fatos e personagens marcantes da vida americana nas décadas anteriores. Em uma ideia muito interessante, a banda conterrânea Fall Out Boy acaba de lançar uma releitura desse rockão energética, substituindo os personagens da versão anterior por protagonistas e fatos desde 1989 até 2023. O resultado ficou ótimo.
Temos desde a morte de Michael Jackson até as guerras no Afeganistão, líderes políticos como Boris Johnson, ídolos do esporte como LeBron James e mesmo “Youtube Killed MTV” (O Youtube matou a MTV).
A ironia fica por conta do vídeo, com uma montagem de cenas em preto e branco em clima de guerra. Aos 24 segundos, temos a imagem que imagino ser de um certo ex-presidente brasileiro (veja aqui).
